You who lived so well have preceeded us to Glory, we cannot wait to see you again!

On Friday, October 7, 2005, my Aunt, Barbara George, met her savior face to face.  I wanted to share a few thoughts about who she was to me.  I am sad she is no longer here and will miss her greatly.  Right now, there is still that ache from the empty place in my heart.  Barbara was a Navy Nurse during the Vietnam War.  I regret to say I know little about this part of her life, and I wish I had more to tell.  I am very proud of the sacrifice she made for her country.  When I think of my aunt, ‘passionate’ is the word that comes to mind.  Eccentric is the second word, but we’ll stick to passionate!  She wasn’t a halfway kind of woman.  She loved life and wanted to get everything she could from it.  With Barbara, you didn’t just go somewhere.  You experienced everything that made that place what it was.  She was passionate about Jesus and missions.  She wanted others to meet her Savior.  Barbara was a go-getter.  She didn’t sit around waiting for things to happen.  She planned them.  If you let her, she’d plan your life too!  Her dreams were always big.  ‘No’ wasn’t a big part of her vocabulary.  She didn’t take no for an answer.  And she rarely gave it as an answer either.  If you needed something, she found a way to make it happen.  She was generous and sacrificing.  She loved people.  That was Christ in her.  Christ loved people.  Barbara loved music, children, beautiful sunsets.  She always noticed the beauty of God’s creations.  So when her eyes began to fail her, I know she must have missed seeing God’s handiwork.  I am confident that she now can see more clearly than we can.  And the beauty she sees now is far more than I can even fathom.  I know she is singing and dancing and breathing freely (no more asthma!).  And when I start to miss her, I know I can begin singing to God.  It’s like I’m right beside her.

We will say our final goodbyes on Tuesday, October 11, 2005 at 11:30 A.M. at Nassau Bay Baptist Church, 18131 Nassau Bay Dr., Nassau Bay, TX 77058.  Visitation is at 10:30 A.M.  She will be buried at Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr., Houston, TX 77038, at 2:30 P.M.

Thank you for all your prayers and support.  Our family can never express what they have meant to us during this time.
